Tonight we started our summer long series entitled Cranium. During this series we are going to spend time talking about different things we as christians believe and why they are important for us to believe. 1st Timothy 4:16 says, "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." Doctrine is a set of beliefs, and God is telling us that we need to watch it closely, examine it, see what it is what we actually beleive and make sure it matches truth.
Tonight's topic was all about God. We first started taking about that we bleive that there is a God. We believe that nature, our own natural inclinations,a nd the Bible point to the fact that there is a being that is all-powerful (omnipotent), all-knowing (omniscient), and all-present (omnipresent). If this is true, it means that He is in control, he sets the rules, he knows everythign about us, and he is able to be present with us even during the darkest of times.
Secondly, we beleive that there is only One God. We don't believe that there is any other true God, only the God we serve. If this is true then only our God should be served and believed in.
Thirdly, We believe that God is a Trinity. This is the belief that he is three in one, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Talk with Alex if you would like the handout for this portion, as it is difficult to explain. If this is true, it shows us that we are not to stand alone, we are created for community.
Lastly, We believe that Jesus is God. He was nto a created being, he is and always has been God. He came to this earth becoming both fully human and fully God. He died for our sins and rose form the dead, where he now sits with the father in heaven. if this is true, we can have full assurance of our faith and trust our sins are forgiven when we ask for forgiveness.

Klondike Bar Challenge
Tonight we continued our study of things we believe. Last time we talked about our belief in a God and that Jesus is God. This week we talked about how we believe that mankind is sinful but that God has provided a way for our salvation from that sin. We walked the Roman's Road to salvation to see what the Bible teaches about this. Romans 3:23 tells us that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's perfect. Romans 6:23 tells us that there is a penalty for that sin, which is death and seperation from God. Romans 5:8 tells us that even though we aren't deserving and we are sinners that God died for us, showing us how much he loves us. Salvation isn't something we can earn on our own, but only the perfect Savior, Jesus, could take our place and give us this great gift. Romans 10:9 tells us that if we confess that Jesus is Lord nad belive he was raised form the dead we will be saved.
